Details: The SS Great Eastern was an iron sailing steamship designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and built at Millwall Iron Works on the River Thames, London. When she was launched in 1858 she was the largest ship ever built and could carry 4,000 passengers from England to Australia without refueling. In 1859 on her maiden voyage, she was damaged by an explosion and after repairs spent several years as a passenger liner between Britain and North America. In 1889 she was finally broken up for scrapped in Merseyside. Model is mounted on a plinth and presented in box packaging
